The Journey of Life: From a Child's Success to the Light of Legacy

Myself and my wife's life after our son becomes established will be a blend of pride, longing, and quiet acceptance. We’ve dreamed of this day, where he will stand tall in the world, independent and successful. Yet, the thought of his absence creates a hollow ache, a silence that echoes in the corners of our hearts and home. He will leave this house, the one that holds his childhood laughter, his dreams, and our countless shared moments. Perhaps he will live in a faraway country or a distant state in India, returning home only once in a year or maybe two or three years. When he does, it will feel like welcoming a guest—not in a way that diminishes his place in our hearts, but in the sense that time and distance will have changed the rhythm of our lives. The daily calls and shared stories will grow sparse. He’ll be so busy building his career, chasing his dreams, and creating a life of his own. And we will tell ourselves, “This is what we wanted for him,” even as we long for the simple joy of hearing his voice or feeling his presence. The quiet will be heavy at times, and the house that once echoed with his footsteps and laughter will seem so still. My wife and I will sit together in the evenings, looking at old photographs and reminiscing about the little boy who once clung to us for comfort. We’ll laugh through our tears, recalling his first steps, his mischief, the rhymes he sang with innocent joy, and the times he fell asleep in our arms. The memories will keep us warm, but they’ll also remind us of how much we miss him. When he visits, even briefly, it will feel like the world has come alive again. We’ll cook his favorite meals, fuss over him, and try to hold on to every moment as if time could be paused. His laughter will once again fill our home, and for those fleeting days, we’ll feel whole. And when it’s time for him to leave again, we’ll smile through the tears, not wanting him to feel the weight of our hearts. Our lives will not be empty, but they will change. My wife and I will lean on each other more than ever, finding strength in our bond. We’ll pick up new hobbies, perhaps travel, or immerse ourselves in the community, but always, always, our thoughts will drift back to him. Every festival, every celebration, every quiet evening will carry his essence, and we’ll wait for the phone to ring, hoping for his voice. Yet, through it all, there will be a deep, abiding pride. This is the life we dreamed of for him—the freedom to follow his own path, to build a life filled with success and joy. And while he may be far away, he will forever remain the center of our world, the child who turned our lives into something extraordinary. He will always know that wherever he goes, we are here, his home, his unwavering support, and his endless source of love.

Shiplu: Cherished Moments Frozen in Time

Looking at these photos of my tiny self, I’m instantly transported back to a time I don’t remember, but one I feel in every way possible. I was only around a year and a half, with curly hair that had a mind of its own and a plumpness that showed a carefree little life. Dark in complexion and with a bit of baby chubbiness, I looked so content—probably unaware of the vast world around me. My aunt, my father's sister, lovingly called me "Shiplu," a name that still echoes in my family’s laughter and conversations today. It’s amazing how a simple name can hold so much warmth and nostalgia. These photos were captured on a Kodak camera, that precious tool of the past that made capturing memories feel like an art. The reels had to be washed, the images developed, and finally, they’d appear on plain glossy paper, holding moments in time that seemed ordinary then but are priceless now. Somewhere between 1988 and 1989, these photos came to life—innocent moments I never knew would m...
